Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and maintaining the operating room for all surgical procedures
- Establishing and utilizing a checklist to monitor the physical plan of the operating room and equipment for conformity to all national standards for ensuring safety for the patient and personnel.
- Assembling the type and quantity of material and special equipment needed for daily procedures and possible emergencies.
- Discusses operative procedures with patients and informs them of what to expect during surgery
- Directs and instructs personnel in preparing, sterilizing, and caring for operating room equipment and supplies.
- Maintains concise and complete records and reports
- Follows safety and infection control policies and procedures
- Follows hospital and department policies and procedures
Requirements:
- 4 years of overall nursing experience
- 1 year plus of nursing experience in the O/R unit
- Associates degree in Nursing a must, bachelor’s preferred
