- PRE-AUTHORIZATION SPECIALIST – TOP NYC HOSPITAL
Leading NYC Hospital is searching for a pre-authorization specialist to join their midtown Manhattan growing team
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for the prior authorizations of all services requiring referrals
-Communicate with insurance companies to expedite the approval of medical exam requests
-Obtains and updates retroactive authorization numbers for scheduled procedures
-Generates work list of authorizations needed
-Ensures that all patient demographics are up to date
-Identifies and monitors outstanding patient balances to be collected
-Assists with other related duties as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
-2 plus years of relevant medical office experience with a hospital or large medical practice handling insurance precertification procedures and related billing
-High School diploma a must / some college preferred
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Superb attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
-Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and database applications
